Barrett Steel uses Nextflow Transform to improve documentation process for 300+ users across multi-sites
Operating through over fifty subsidiaries Barrett Steel Limited is one of the largest general steel stockholders in the United Kingdom. Based in Bradford, with sites across the United Kingdom, a large fleet of privately owned vehicles ranging from pick-up trucks to articulated units, an impressive array of stocked products and dedicated, knowledgeable staff Barrett Steel is the stockholder to provide the total solution to its customers. Barrett Steel has a turnover around £200 million.
Using an IBM iseries processor, Barrett Steel purchased Nextflow Transform from Next Solution Ltd, to help improve the documentation process for its 300 users, across its subsidiary’s. The software re-designs documents, and routes them to any Windows printers, e-mail, fax, and archive for browser access.
The IBM iseries is the most reliable system and we need to keep our busy systems on-line at all times. Documents are created using overlays on our IBM iseries, and we found that these tasks could be achieved much easier using the Nextflow transform Windows designer without any interference to our ERP software solution.” said Tony Smith IT Director.
“We have designed a number of templates for our accounting functions which include about 2000 invoices a day. Eventually more and more documents will be produced using this solution as it is much quicker than programming in the IBM language. Documents can have graphics added automatically and these include logo’s, text, signatures, barcodes etc. Now that we have the transform module as the Windows front end design and routing, we are able to use the Windows tools to make documentation better and to re-route these documents to printer, e-mail, fax, SMS and web portals.”
